The University of Wisconsin-River Falls (UWRF), a member of the University of Wisconsin System, is located on the eastern edge of the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area in scenic west central Wisconsin. Job Duties: Position monitors the online boiler system and its supporting equipment, makes adjustments, performs tests, and takes action as necessary to provide uninterrupted steam to the campus safely and efficiently. Hours of work are rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

A criminal background check will be completed on final candidates. The selected candidate must be able to pass a post-offer pre-employment screen, respirator and pulmonary test. A 12-month probationary period is required.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
*Knowledge of the function and operation of high pressure boilers and supporting equipment.
*Ability to communicate effectively with supervisor, co-workers, and campus community.
*Ability to pass job function screening.
*Ability to work days, nights, afternoons, weekends, and holidays.
*Ability to pass a respirator test and be willing to wear a respirator or air hood.
*Ability to pass a pulmonary test.
*Ability to exercise good judgement at all times.
*Ability to organize work tasks logically and efficiently.
*Ability to be punctual when relieving a shift.
*Ability to read and understand written procedures and manuals.
*Ability to recognize safety concerns and adhere to a safety program.
*Ability to work in confined spaces and in unpleasant conditions, including coal and coal ash dust.
*Ability to perform heavy manual labor including frequent lifting up to 50 or more pounds.
*Ability to operate snow plows and power brooms as needed to assist Grounds staff.
*Must be able to work independently and with minimal supervision.
*Must have the ability to diagram plant systems (water, steam. gas, fuel oil, air and blowdown lines).
*Basic mechanical knowledge/aptitude required.
*Must be able to work in a team environment.
*Forklift certification preferred.
*Boiler experience preferred.
