Provides recreational activities and treatment for people with mental, physical or emotional disabilities or illnesses to improve or maintain their health and well-being. Selects, develops and implements recreational activities to help clients improve physical, mental and social functions. Assesses clients' needs and interests based on observations, standardized assessments, medical records, etc., for the selection and development of therapeutic recreations. Documents clients' participation and reactions during therapeutic recreation treatments; tracks patients' progress and evaluates therapeutic effects. Provides adaptive equipment to help clients with disabilities participate in recreational activities assigned in treatment plans.



Certification as professional CTRS level through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification highly preferred. Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or a related field is required. Previous work experience or internship of one year is required. Must have thorough knowledge of therapeutic recreational therapy theory and practices.
