The Jamestown Sun, a six-day daily in south-central North Dakota, has an immediate opening for a full-time sports reporter. The ideal candidate would join a two-person sports department focused on reporting the central North Dakota sports scene.

We’re one of North Dakota’s top small daily newspapers in a family-owned company that highly values strong local coverage and content.

We are looking for a self-starter reporter, who has a desire to be part of a community newspaper, to produce a strong balance of features, columns and enterprise stories along with everyday game recaps and previews. The successful candidate will also develop a social media presence and bring new ideas to our team.

The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications or Journalism or equivalent work experience; be able to write, edit and produce a strong sports section under tight deadlines; have strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills; photography and video experience a plus; strong social media platform experience; have familiarity in all areas of sports coverage and must have a valid driver's license with a driving record that is insurable by the company. The position requires some evening work along with a rotating weekend schedule.

Jamestown provides a relaxed lifestyle and is within driving distance to metropolitan areas.

As part of Forum Communications, The Jamestown Sun offers a competitive wage and benefit package along with a professional and comfortable work environment focusing on growth opportunities for its employees. Outstanding and highly motivated graduates with college newspaper experience are especially welcome to apply.
