Typical Day in the Life

A typical day in the life of an Ag Consultant might include:
  • Communicate effectively with Ag producers to manage expectations, ensure satisfaction and lead collaborative efforts to improve client business processes.
  • Conduct consultative collaboration sessions and/or discussions with Ag producers to identify, measure, analyze and interpret financial information in order to help them most effectively manage their business.
  • Complete financial statement analysis on farm and ranch financial statements, including balance sheet and income statement ratio analysis.
  • Assist producers with financial management, including financial cash flow and operating income projections, variable and fixed cost structure, and break-even analysis.
  • Work with various producers and lenders to optimize credit facilities while understanding the impact of lowering or restructuring debt.
  • Consult with Ag producers in regards to farm and ranch profitability, cash flows, property and equipment acquisitions or disposition, and financing needs.
  • Deliver value-added risk management solutions.
  • Manage, understand and keep current with agriculture regulations, trends or issues in order to recommend and/or develop processes and procedures to implement changes to better serve the client.
  • Manage client relationships with integrity by monitoring needs and building value into professional service.
  • Balance new business development and practice development activities, including active participation in related industry-specific associations.


Who You Are
  • You have experience with and knowledge of the unique dynamics and economics of Ag producers.
  • You have the ability to recognize, develop and implement process efficiencies.
  • You have excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • You are a multi-tasking master, and there has never been a deadline you could not meet.
  • You hold yourself to the highest professional standards and maintain strict client confidentiality.
  • You have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and clients.
  • You are proficient with computers, Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and related programs.
  • Your track record in improving process functions and financial performance is astounding.
  • You have the ability to travel to multiple Eide Bailly offices and to Ag Producer business locations as necessary.
  • In addition to all this, you have a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Ag Business, Accounting or related field and have 4-7 years of related experience; previous related industry and consulting experience highly preferred.


Must be authorized to work in the United States permanently without the requirement of sponsorship at any point in the future.
