    • Job Description Information


        Ensure proper food preparation, portioning and serving of foods according to cycle menus, therapeutic diet extensions, standardized recipes and production schedules. Work cooperatively with or without supervision in preparing daily meals Supervise serving of meals and may give instructions to dietary aides as necessary. Prepare nutritious and safe food for an elderly, high risk population. Is trained in and follows federal, state, and local regulations related to safe food handling, and follows the established KN Dietary Manual of Best Practices. Perform other foodservice related duties as assigned.

        Certified Dietary Manager (CDM)


        Work primarily in the dining room/kitchen area, and has frequent contact with staff and residents. Has occasional contact with the resident family members and guests.


        • Work experience as a Baker/Cook Assistant within an institutional setting or other similar food service position, is preferred but not necessary. Completion of a state approved food safety course strongly recommended and preferred but not required. The ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately is essential. Patience, tact, enthusiasm and a positive attitude towards the elderly is essential. The ability to work with a variety of staff and residents with differing values, attitudes, capabilities, and dispositions is essential. This position requires an ability to work effectively as an individual player of the dietary team as well as part of the facility wide team.

        • Strongly encouraged to participate in the stretching exercise program daily and is required to follow correct body mechanics for safe lifting and operate equipment safely, using personal protective equipment and protective shields, guards etc. at all times.

        • Specific work hours (beginning and ending of shifts) may be scheduled per facility needs, and may be scheduled for either morning or evening shifts (ABC or PBC) or a combination of both. Positions are scheduled daily, and include weekends and holidays on a rotating basis.

        • Required to have the ability to read, write and speak English well enough to communicate with staff, residents and visitors. Must complete and pass a state required background study.
