JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for providing all forms of respiratory care to all patient populations in a safe and therapeutic manner following established standards and practices. Must possess the skills necessary to assess the respiratory status and provide care to all types of patients of all ages. Understand and demonstrate proficiency in all respiratory care clinical and technical skills, and be able to learn and utilize new technology as the state of the art of respiratory care evolves.

QUALIFICATIONS

Unofficial transcripts from an approved school and a letter from the Program Director required prior to employment. Must obtain the Certified Respiratory Therapist credential within 90 days of graduation from the program and must obtain the Registered Respiratory Therapist credential within 9 months of graduation. Must maintain a valid South Dakota Respiratory Care Practitioner License or a Temporary Permit to practice in Respiratory Care. Must be a registry eligible graduate of an approved program of Respiratory Care. Must fulfill annual continuing education requirements of the department. Must complete orientations, competency validations, and other in-services as required by the depart
