Performs basic patient care services and supports activities of the patient care unit. Patient Care Technicians are multi skilled to provide expanded bedside services under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. Patient Care Technicians have knowledge of and utilize appropriate age-related patient care protocols relating to the physical and psychological needs of all ages of patients. Must be able to work with growth and development needs of unique client populations. Knowledge of medical terminology and medical equipment/supplies preferred.


The frequent diagnoses for the psychiatry patients include: Depression, Anxiety, Adjustment Disorder, Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Dementia, and Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Unit milieu on this psychiatric unit is maintained in a closed unit environment. Psychiatric services at Sanford Bismarck have a holistic focus while creating a therapeutic environment and employing respect and empathy for all individuals. The psychiatric services program is concerned with early diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. The patient is served focusing on relationship with family and community. Objectives of the psychiatric program are to enhance quality of patient care and coping skills; improve patient's self-esteem, affect and attitude; ameliorate specific symptoms; improve family/interpersonal functioning; coordinate and facilitate discharge planning with community health services and family resources. Full time position available. 12 hour shifts. Day or Night or rotating shifts available.


Current CNA certification required. CPR certification required within 6 weeks of employment, recertification as required. Associate Degree in Medical Secretary preferred.
