Specialized role in which qualified registered nursing staff are assigned a cluster (a series of units) based on their clinical expertise, skill, and/or choice. Expected to assume the same patient assignments as other nursing staff on the assigned unit. Expected to provide total patient care from admission to discharge. Expected to care for patients in clusters from infancy to geriatrics. Assumes the responsibility for the outcome of nursing care during a specified work period. Receives assistance from other healthcare professionals and their expertise. Knowledge of and utilizes appropriate age-related patient protocols relating to the physical and psychological needs of patients.Following a competency based formal orientation, competent performance is expected. Must practice within the legal scope of practice of registered nurses. Must have strong flexibility and organizational skills and be able to adapt to multiple units and patient populations. Must be able to demonstrate independence, assertiveness and critical thinking when working with various patient populations and employees. Must have strong interdependence, collaboration, and delegation skills to work within various teams and department cultures. Must like change and be willing to adapt as necessary to changing environments and cultures.

12 hour days and night shifts, every third weekend and every third holiday

Requires current licensure as a Registered Nurse in state(s) of practice and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges as required by position. Nurses performing nursing practice over the telephone require licensure in the states where the patients being served reside. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications (ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NRP, etc.). Must have graduated from an accredited school or college of nursing. Bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred. Specific services/positions may have additional education, training or experience requirements. Must have attended a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the life span as part of the curriculum or have had a minimum of 400 hours of experience as a RN (or LPN) at another facility.
