Job Description / Expectations

Set-up and operate a variety of machine tools and equipment to produce precision glass parts/components, including milling machines, lathes, saws, and Blanchard grinders
Create and modify machine programs.
Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of print reading, mathematics and instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and measurement scopes.
Measure, inspect, and test completed glass components to ensure conformance to specifications.
Set-up, adjust, and operate all of the machine centers including VMCs, CNC Lathes, Blanchards, and other specialized equipment in order to perform precision machining operations.
Monitor and adjust machine feed and speeds to maximize product yield while simultaneously minimizing production cycle times.
Effectively manage multiple jobs and priorities in order to achieve >98% OTD while simultaneously ensuring a high rate of equipment utilization.
Utilize blueprints, drawings and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products and to determine appropriate in-process targets and final product dimensions and tolerances.
Build fixturing and tooling for production and experimental processes to meet special product and engineering needs.
Effectively communicate with IRD engineering, management, and manufacturing personnel as well as IRD customers in order to exchange technical information.
Support glass component projects from planning to fabrication through assembly, inspection, and testing, using knowledge of machine functions, glass properties, and mathematics.
Inspect, maintain, and operate equipment to verify operational efficiency.
Plan the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used during a new product build.
Collect, analyze, and document key process data in order to facilitate continuous improvements on both product and machines.
