JOB SUMMARY

Registers patients and takes care of related paperwork and administrative requirements of the healthcare facility. Providing clerical and secretarial duties, including patient admissions functions, bed assignments, completion of preliminary paperwork for entering patients, etc. Entering patient information into computerized system of the healthcare facility for tracking purposes. Verifying insurance or provider information and adhering to admitting policies and procedures. Assisting medical, nursing and accounting staff in ensuring appropriate patient placement.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES / EXPECTED HOURS

Part-time, 48 hours per two week pay period. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 12pm-5pm, Tuesday from 1pm-5pm. This position is in the Call Center and primary duties include answering phones and scheduling patients. Work is performed in an office environment. Hours of coverage differ depending on assigned area. Hours of coverage may change to meet the needs of the patients, physician offices, and/or the needs of the department.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of a high school education or GED is required. Courses in business and communication would be helpful. Medical terminology courses helpful. Typing required. Worker receives on the job training in hospital and clinic routines and policies. Previous experience in medical environment preferred, but not required.
