The AHS Manager establishes long range plans and department policies and procedures within the framework of organizational policy. Plans, directs, and coordinates the activities for providing quality services for patients and other customers. Develops collaborative working relationships with Medical Staff. Establishes performance standards and works to continually improve the quality of service. Conducts staff performance reviews and actively recognizes and rewards staff performance. Conducts hiring, training and scheduling of staff and is actively involved in daily operations. Functions as coach and leader for individuals and teams in facilitating the effective management of the department. Meets regulatory and administrative guidelines and supports corporate Mission, Vision, and Values. Develops and implements the department budget and operates within it. Consistently and effectively applies quality process concepts in carrying out managerial responsibilities.

Primary Job Duties:
- Supports the implementation and management of initiatives, programs and processes designed to enhance our position as "Employer of Choice".
- Manages employee performance and completes performance evaluations of all staffwithin established timelines.
- Manages all human resource activities including retention, recruitment activity, hiring, conducting disciplinary actions and termination of staff.
- Monitors position vacancy and turnover rates and takes action to enhance staff retention.
- Promotes continuous staff participation in the Peer Input Process.
- Manages the work team by consistently defining expectations, level of authority, accountability and responsibility.
- Builds consensus with the Medical Staff working in cooperation with physicians on related strategy and program initiatives.
- Develops short and long-range objectives that support the Strategic Plan and include measurable outcomes.
- Achieves expected outcomes for assigned department(s)in a way that provides effective outcomes while at the same time using minimal resources i.e.,. staffing, supplies, time, etc.
- Analyzes department related data and develops appropriate action plans to resolve discrepancies.
- Develops, implements and meets capital and operating budget targets.
- Develops, implements and manages programs and processes for assigned department(s).
- Develops, revises and implements administrative policies, procedures, guidelines and job descriptions.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:

Required:
i Licensed by the North DakotaStateBoard of Respiratory Care
i Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent work experience
i Minimum of (3) years supervisory experience in major health care setting
i Demonstrates ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in written format
Demonstrates ability to be outwardly engaging, approachable, and flexible

Preferred:
i Masters in Health Care Management
i Knowledge of diagnosis related groups, ICD-9 coding, patient care systems, computerization, and health care accounting.
i Past experience in verbal or written communication and presentation skills.
