The Payment Specialist Representative serves as a resource to internal and external customers; assists management in the training and orientation of staff; works with vendors in regard to electronic data transfer; analyzes insurance and patient payments and adjustments; demonstrates the ability to learn and utilize any new software; establishes, maintains, and works assigned accounts; answers all inquiries; promotes Altru initiatives; acts as a resource; contacts fiscal intermediaries; assists with reporting mechanisms; monitors information compliance and supports Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) environment, and demonstrates the ability to adjust own workload.

Required:

• Two (2) year business/technical school or equivalent work experience in business or health related field.

• Experience in analysis, trending and modifications of workload.

• Proficient in software applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Access, Internet).

• Effectively demonstrates multi-tasking capabilities within job and projects while maintaining a positive, professional and customer service based attitude.

• Ability to work cooperatively with a variety of individuals and groups.

• Proven problem solving, organizational, and time management skills.

• Ability to work independently.

Preferred:

• Previous experience in planning, development and implementation of new programs.

• Knowledge of medical terminology.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
