Works under the direct supervision of a registered clinical staff to assist with general nursing care and patient monitoring as directed. Responsibility is to protect the patient from self-harm and assure safety needs by staying at the bedside or monitoring through remote video surveillance. Functions include personal hygiene, comfort and safety measures, patient monitoring, simple documentation, assisting with activities of daily living, communicate patient status and basic nursing procedures as outlined in the job responsibilities. Expected to maintain a clean, calm, therapeutic environment in order to promote patient safety. May have access to medications for purposes of distribution to licensed personnel. Expected to care for all patient populations from infancy to geriatric.

8 hour straight night shifts with every other weekend and every third holiday

Whether working in Minnesota or North Dakota, certification is highly preferred. If working in North Dakota and not a Certified Nursing Assistant, must be registered as a Nurse Assistant through the North Dakota Department of Health within four months from the date of initial employment. Certification is required if designated by law (i.e. Home Care). Must have good human relations and communication skills. Must be able to follow procedures and instructions given by the licensed nurse. Must be able to acquire a basic knowledge of patient care principles, medical terminology and equipment within the assigned service area.
