Advanced Practice Clinician - Part-Time -  Bemidji, MN

Under administrative supervision of the Clinic Manager, clinical supervision of and collaboration with the Clinical Practice Director and Medical Director, the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse  provides clinical services, including reproductive health care, to patients in our Bemidji clinic. This position will also serve as the Bemidji clinic's Clinical Practice Leader, who performs clinical competency assessments, chart reviews and serves as a mentor for clinical staff. This position supervises clinical practice of the clinical staff and works collaboratively with clinical leadership, clinic staff and the clinic manager, with the objective of providing excellent reproductive health care to our patients. This position is a leader in advancing all clinical services of the organization, including family planning, abortion, and any new or expanding clinical services.


The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse serves as the main clinician in the clinic.

This includes obtaining pertinent patient history and performing physical exams, as indicated by the visit type; recognizes and addresses deviations from normal; performs, orders, and interprets both screening and diagnostic testing; addresses abnormal findings.

The Clinician develops a plan, which may include treatment, medical or other referrals, and/or prescribing of medications; provides patient instruction regarding plan of care, preventive education, and health promotion and maintenance.

Supervises routine orders with clinic RNs; collaborates with Clinic Manager to meet clinic goals, productivity benchmarks, and assigned tasks; provides customer focused care and assures smooth and efficient patient and clinic flow processes.

Interprets scientific studies based on knowledge of basic research principals; Provides input and current information for the on-going process of protocol development. Stays up-to-date on reproductive health care developments and maintains CEU requirements for required licensure and certification.

 Responsible for clinical excellence in assigned PPMNS clinics.

On an annual basis complete clinical competencies and chart reviews for the clinical team as delegated by the APN/PA Director.

Evaluates clinical competencies and performance in partnership with Clinical Operations leaders and Clinic Manager.  Provides coaching to assist staff in achieving overall clinic goals.

Works collaboratively with the Trainers and Clinic Manager during the new hire orientation process for clinical staff, providing leadership, mentoring and training.

Works in partnership with the Clinic Manager to achieve clinic goals.

Assists the Clinical Development and Training Director with projects specific to the clinical team, which may include training that addresses updated clinical topics.

 Communicates on a regular basis with the Clinical Practice Director and clinical leadership regarding the essential functions of the role, including goals, planning, updates, and results. Seeks out clinical efficiencies and communicates process improvement recommendations to clinical leadership

Elevates clinical issues, concerns, training needs to the APN/PA Director, and clinical leadership as needed.

Responsible for implementing new practice standards, guidelines, and policies within the clinic.  This includes regular follow-up regarding implementation status.

 Tuesday and Wednesday 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

 Friday: 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.


Required Qualifications

For Nurse Practitioners or Certified Nurse Midwives:

Current state license as a Registered Nurse and APRN

National Certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse, i.e. Women’s Health Care through the National Certification Corporation (NCC), Adult, Family Practice NP through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), or American College of Nurse Midwives

Any additional requirements for practice/prescriptive authority in MN or SD

Any additional requirements to be credentialed by third party payors, i.e. Master’s Degree

Current CPR certification  

Preferred Qualifications:

•        One year clinical experience in reproductive or family health care

•        Experience working with high risk minority populations and bilingual language skills
