The vice president of finance and accounting is a critical position within the senior leadership team. The person serving in this capacity is responsible for directing all the financial functions of the organization in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), trends and regulations respectively. The incumbent will also be responsible for the interpretation and communication of the fiscal operations of ASB to provide information and guidance to the president, sales associates, other third-party stakeholders, and board of directors.

Provides strategic financial leadership and support on the evaluation of potential alliances, acquisitions, mergers, pension funds and investments and/or other issues affecting the business.
Works to optimize the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiates needed strategies for improvement.
Ensures timely and accurate budget analysis and financial review for management team.
Recommends and develops policies, procedures and systems to meet company objectives. Aligns financial policies and procedures with company objectives.
Establishes financial reporting systems and controls to ensure compliance with company expenditure requirements and to meet customer needs.
Manages the relationship with the ESOP valuation partners and assists in the annual valuation and review.
Recommends and leads efforts to enhance the ESOP share price valuation.
Builds, develops and manages the finance and accounting team capable of carrying out needed initiatives.
Stays abreast of trends and regulations to ensure effectiveness and compliance for the finance and accounting functions.


Supervisory Responsibilities
This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.

Education and/or Experience
Required: Bachelor's degree (BA) from four-year college in accounting, finance or business with 8 or more years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred: MBA or CPA in the fields of business management, finance, or accounting plus three to five years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Communication Skills

Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest and commissions. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills
Competent and proficient understanding of ASB platforms, such as PeopleSoft ERP, and eCommerce platforms. Technically competent with various software programs, such as office suites; word, excel, outlook. Must be able to learn, understand and apply new technologies.

Travel
This position requires up to 10% of travel related to Company Conferences, potential acquisitions and visits to remote home office locations.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones.
