Assists nursing personnel with a variety of patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients. Performs under the supervision of a RN or LPN. May require certification in some locations. Assists patients in daily living tasks such as hygiene, dressing, feeding, positioning, exercising, etc. Assists with personal hygiene, takes vital signs and changes bed linens. May serve and collect food trays and provide for between-meal nourishment. Transfers patients in and out of bed or wheelchair using proper tools when necessary. Assist patients with ambulation and mobility. Maintains stock of medical supplies needed for registered nurse or physician. Complies with all patient duties assigned.


This is a 24 bed medical/surgical unit operated on a twenty-four hour basis. Diagnosis of the major population include Angina, CABG, CHF, Cardiac Interventions, and MI. Special services particular to this area include: a. Telemetry monitoring 44 units b. Selected cardiac drips (i.e. Cardizem, Primacor, Nitroglycerin, Procainamide, Angiomax, Integrilin, Natrocar, Lidocaine, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, low dose Dopamine). c. Cardioversion, external pacemaker monitoring.


CPR certification required within 6 weeks of employment and re-certification as required. Registered with the North Dakota Department of Health as a Certified Nursing Aide. Minimum of six months experience in a hospital setting preferred.
