JOB SUMMARY

Conducts a wide range of non-invasive cardiac tests, under direct supervision, for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. Performs cardiac tests and monitors patient heart functions using diverse cardiology equipment. Checks, calibrates and maintains cardiology equipment to ensure proper operation and accurate test results. Provides care and counseling for cardiac patients to ensure their comfort and safety during cardiac tests and treatments; alerts senior professionals of abnormalities or changes in patient responses. Obtains and records patient information and medical histories; interprets electrocardiogram (ECG) results and generates factual written reports.

QUALIFICATIONS

None required at this time. Must have completed a Medical Assistant program, have completed an Exercise Science program or have equivalent work experience in cardiac testing. Must have knowledge of basic cardiac anatomy and physiology. Must have a working knowledge of basic and intermediate life threatening cardiac rhythms, special equipment used in cardiac testing, computers, and medical terminology. Must have knowledge of cardiovascular drugs and how they can affect exercise performance, hemodynamic and the EKG, the effects of age, psychological factors, and other special considerations that may affect exercise testing. Certification as a Cardiac Technician (CCT) is desirable. Basic Life Support certification required.
