The White Earth Reservation Tribal Council is currently seeking a qualified applicant who will be
responsible for providing early intervention and family preservation case management to children and
parents who are White Earth members; by providing frequent contact, oversight, support, advocacy
and referrals in order to try to maintain the families together, assist with post-reunification efforts, and
work within the child welfare and Behavioral Health systems to ensure active efforts are provided to
families.
Position outcomes:
• Assesses and investigates family needs to ensure services are appropriate.
• Provide case management to families experiencing maltreatment or child welfare issues in order
to reduce risk factors to children and maintain children in their homes.
• Ensure culturally appropriate services for families experiencing child maltreatment.
• Create and complete records and reports to comply with required agencies (internal and
external).
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge of and ability to follow and apply the policies and procedures of the White Earth
Reservation Tribal Council and the Indian Child Welfare department.
• Knowledge of demographics, culture, customs, lifestyles and geography of the White Earth
Reservation.
• Knowledge of laws, Tribal codes, and ability to work within those laws.
• Knowledge of court procedures, and ability to effectively represent the case in court.
• Knowledge or ability to gain knowledge of Anishinaabe culture, values, beliefs, and family
systems.
• Knowledge or ability to gain knowledge of Anishinaabe child rearing.
• Skilled in confidentiality and ability to maintain confidential records relating to clients'
treatment.
• Skilled to guide clients in the development of skills and strategies for dealing with their
problems.
• Skilled in applying culturally appropriate methods of communication with clients.
• Ability to prepare and maintain all required case plans and reports.
• Ability to counsel clients to assist in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life, and making
changes while complying with their case plan.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Human Services, or five
(5) years’ experience preferred in the Child Welfare field along with combination of
education and experience, and actively engaged in completing a bachelor’s degree.
• Must have a valid MN Driver's License and proof of insurance for travel between sites.
• Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
