Job Details
The White Earth Reservation Tribal Council is currently seeking a qualified applicant who will be
responsible for overseeing and training the Family Preservation Workers on how to implement
culturally specific services, referrals and ICWA case management. The coordinator will also provide
these ICWA Case management services to the families identifies for high risk of out of placement, or
reentry. The coordinator will also train staff to understand systemic racism, and internalized
oppression.
Position outcomes:
• Assist in decreasing out-of-home placement of Native American children.
• Offer cultural-based services and support families in the context of our own communities and
tribe to safely divert them from the child welfare system, whenever possible.
• Address chemical dependency and prenatal drug exposure addiction factors impacting out-ofhome
placements and families and children involved in Child Welfare.
• Increase culturally specific services that are crucial to holistic healing when working with
Native American families involved in substance/chemical dependency.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge of and ability to follow and apply the policies and procedures of the White Earth
Reservation Tribal Council and the Indian Child Welfare department.
• Knowledge of demographics, culture, customs, lifestyles and geography of the White Earth
Reservation.
• Knowledge of child protection laws and ability to apply that to individual referrals for services.
• Knowledge of service providers, cultural service providers and ability to make referrals to
families, and culturally appropriate offerings to cultural providers.
• Knowledge of Federal IV-E rules and procedures and ability to apply the rules to individual
cases.
• Knowledge of Indian child rearing practices and ability to apply that knowledge to cases.
• Skilled in educating and conducting cultural group trainings.
• Knowledge of recording, compiling, and maintaining confidential case records on clients and
ability to maintain records in accordance with State and Tribal standards.
• Ability to generate reports in a professional and timely manner to document the implementation
of culturally specific services that are offered in case plans.
• Ability to appropriately approach spiritual advisors and cultural healers.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in the Human Services field; or five years’ experience in the human services field.
• Must have a valid MN Driver's License and proof of insurance for travel between sites.
• Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
