Position Description:
North Dakota State University Department of Theatre seeks an assistant professor with a primary area of expertise in Movement and experience in Directing. The position is a nine-month tenure-track appointment, beginning in August 2018.

Responsibilities include teaching movement, acting, and related performance classes as well as directing one mainstage production each year. Additional teaching opportunities will depend on the candidate's expertise and departmental needs, and may include choreography, musical theatre, introduction to theatre, world theatre, dramatic literature and dance.

NDSU Theatre is accredited by NAST and is part of the Division of Performing Arts. We offer the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Performance, in Musical Theatre, and in Technical Theatre; and undergraduate liberal arts degrees. The department has a growing enrollment of 60 majors, seven faculty members, and adjunct support. North Dakota State University is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer

Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Terminal degree in Theatre or related field; successful experience in movement with training in Alexander, Feldenkrais, Lecoq, Laban, Suzuki or other similar accepted method; successful experience as a director; demonstrated commitment to outreach and research/professional creative activities; effective oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability and commitment to working in a collegial and mutually supportive environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated success in performance and teaching in one or more of the following: Theatre literature and theory, choreography, multicultural theatre, dance, social engagement and/or entrepreneurial skills. Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to promoting diversity. Established and recognized research/creative agenda.
