PURPOSE: The purpose of this position is to enrich our company's position within our community by implementing a marketing plan, expanding brand awareness, and improving public relations.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this position is to enrich our company's position within our community by implementing a marketing plan, expanding brand awareness, and improving public relations.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Public Relations
- Direct and execute public relations and events messaging
- Plan and execute corporate events and public relations activities. Some activities include Bowl for Kids' Sake, United Way Charity Events (Turkey Day), and other events as requested
- Plan and execute new store events (Grand Openings/Remodeling) in coordination with the corporate office and store leaders
- Review store event reports to evaluate impact of events and track results. Build constructive commentary and feedback to facilitate improvement
- Working with media (News, Print, Social) to promote our stores and overall brand
- Build and maintain a relationship with vendors/media to enhance Hornbacher's image
Marketing
- Work in conjunction with our marketing team to develop proper signage, new advertisements, and social media postings
- Work within the corporate office to assist store members with marketing projects (store signage, banners, store special requests)
- Execute project work plans to complete the task on time, and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
- Execute requests by the store (changes to in store audio messages, changes to store signage etc.)
- Develop effective daily/weekly work plans
- Plan events and follow through on completion of events (making phone calls, setting schedules, printing flyers, working the event etc.)
- Provide guidance, coaching and new ideas to our store teams in order to facilitate store events and public relations
- Provide Hornbacher's with strategic direction as it relates to events and any public relations
- Working with all store associates to effectively monitor progress leading up to an event
People management skills
- Training and development of associates to ensure competence in assigned tasks and to develop for advancement
- Managing performance of vendors and store associates as needed
- Recognizing coaching opportunities and utilizing skills to encourage growth
- Encouraging active participation and cooperation within front-end team (Charity events such as Bowl for Kid's Sake are largely driven by our front end teams)
- Encourage individual & group effort toward providing the best service possible
Communication skills
- Exercise sound judgement and tact to effectively work with associates and vendors within the organization and the public
- Building strong channels of communication throughout the store
- Communicating with vendors to ensure timely progress on upcoming events
- Addressing customer concerns and presenting mutually beneficial outcomes
Logical reasoning skills
- Ability to multi task and prioritize business needs
- Identifying patterns and trends of the business and utilizing that to plan new events, update marketing, and promote the business through media
- Recognizing problems and the ability to solve them creatively and independently
- Being open to constructive feedback and able to effectively communicate areas that need improvement to team members
Physical Work Environment
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Ability to reach, lift, stack, and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to approximately 50 lbs.
- Occasional use of calculators, computers, telephone, fax, and other office equipment in the course of the normal workday. Should be familiar and comfortable with using Internet including Facebook, Twitter, and other social media.
Experience
- 1-2 years Marketing or Public Relations experience preferred
- Retail experience preferred
