Lakewood Health System is currently seeking Vice President of Nursing.

The Vice President of Nursing is a member of our Executive Leadership Team.  In this role you will direct, plan, organize and oversee the daily operations of all professional nursing and support staff that engage direct patient care. You will focus on ensuring that delivery of high-quality health care is consistent with the mission, vision and values of Lakewood Health System.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Must be well versed and practice the prescribed philosophy, purpose, policies, and standards of nursing services.
  • Organizes, directs, and administers the nursing services to provide the level of care required by nursing standards.
  • Responsible for cost controls to insure maximum effectiveness of funds expended from the approved departmental budgets.
  • Maintains close coordination with all departments to insure continuity and collaboration of services.
  • Maintains continuing quality assessment and improvement analysis and evaluation of patient care delivery and communicates with executive team on the activities/issues of nursing services.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies related to clinical services provided by non-physician/non-mid-level providers.
  • Provides oversight for the professional practice of nursing and the provision of nursing care in all licensed areas of the organization.
  • Supports nursing leadership clinically and operationally to ensure growth and development of nurses professionally.
  • Involved in system approach to develop and implement strategic goals.
  • Works with Chief Medical Officer (CMO) regarding clinical care policies and strategies.
  • Engages in studies and investigations related to improving clinical care, disease management, patient flow, and patient satisfaction.
  • Develops and maintains nursing policies and procedures.
  • Interprets health policies and regulations to nursing staff and employees.
  • Serves as a change agent assisting others in understanding the importance, necessity impact and process of change.
  • Identifies and implements new programs or services for enhanced revenue opportunities for Lakewood Health System.
  • Provides ongoing review and analysis of the quality of nursing care.
  • Engages in studies and investigations related to improving clinical care, disease management, patient flow, and patient satisfaction.
  • Understands, articulates, and ensures compliance with patient care standards reflected in Federal/State regulation and organizational policies and practices.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive nursing experience, 5 years nursing management experience, and progressively working toward BSN if not already obtained.  MSN preferred.
  • Current Minnesota RN license in good standing with MN Board of Nursing.
  • Ability to lead, direct and provide continuous improvement for professional nursing and best practices.
  • Demonstrate successful business development and growth in services.
  • Possess financial acumen and fiscal/budget experience.
  • Possess strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective interpersonal relationship skills including good listening and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of setting and with a wide variety of people and different organizational levels.
  • Ability to develop and implement plans for program/ department operations.
  • Ability to handle confidential information discreetly and appropriately.
