Mission/Purpose: The mission of the Bemidji area Senior Center is to provide opportunities for older adults to develop and sustain their potential as individuals and citizens of our community. Our purpose is to meet the needs of seniors for fellowship, learning, information and recreation, and to work cooperatively with other agencies in serving the needs of older adults.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to involve seniors in programs and projects
Ability to communicate with, relate to, and enjoy a wide variety of people
Ability to work independently with strong management skills
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Ability to work with and take direction from the Board of Directors
Working knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office Suite


RESPONSIBILITIES:

General:

Be a visionary for the Center and its future
Establish and maintain working relationships with social service agencies, local businesses and government agencies to promote the Center
Serve as an information resource for seniors regarding community agencies and services
Administer contracts, policies and decisions made by the Board of Directors
Be responsible for the daily operations of the Center
Supervise and train Center staff and volunteers
Work with Center financial manager on money handling and documentation
Coordinate fundraising activities and ideas for new fundraising events
Attend quarterly United Way meetings, maintain our relationship, and assist with any requests they may have
Attend community and non-profit meetings as necessary


Document Preparation:
Semi-annual newsletter (one to be mailed with membership drive letter)
Grant applications, including United Way and townships annually
Membership application form
Annual membership drive letters
Agendas for committee and board meetings
Membership list - update and maintain membership database
Monthly activity calendars
Press releases
Posters
Minutes from program committee meetings


Committees:
Attend Board and committee meetings
Work with Finance Committee/financial manager to insure Center financial stability and in preparation of annual budget
Work with Volunteer Committee to develop volunteer base and on-going recruitment of new volunteers and retention of current members
Work with Program Committee in scheduling activities, educational and informational programs, and bus trip events
Work with Building Committee to help oversee building maintenance and be responsible for inquiring about quotes on necessary repairs or projects
Work with Craft Shop Committee in planning and execution of daily operations and events
Work with Fundraising Committee to identify grant possibilities and other sources of income

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT BY BELTRAMI COUNTY COUNCIL ON AGING:
This is a part-time, hourly-waged professional management position.
Salary is dependent upon experience and qualifications.
Personnel Policies take effect on date of hire. Evaluation of the Manager shall be done by the Board of Directors on an annual basis per the Center's Personnel Manual, and shall be completed by October 31st of each year.

All Center employees are hired on an "at will" basis. Employment at the Center is for an indefinite period of time and is terminable at any time, with or without cause being shown, by either the employee or BCCOA.
