Sign-on bonus available!

Full-time, benefited position working 80 hours per two week pay period. Duties include to serve the language, speech, and dysphagia needs of inpatients, outpatients, and home care patients of the hospital through assessment of communication and/or swallowing disorders, assisting the individual to communicate to the best of their abilities, assisting family and staff in communicating with the individual, developing and implementing individualized therapy programs and arranging for continued treatment after discharge if necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Provides comprehensive age specific patient assessment and treatment as prescribed by physician.
  • Assessment and treatment of aphasia, apraxia, dysarthria, and cognitive/linguistic defects from stroke, brain tumor or trauma.
  • Assessment and treatment of traumatic brain injury patients experiencing cognitive/linguistic problems.
  • Assessment and treatment of laryngotomized patients and voice disorders.
  • Assessment and treatment of cleft palate and fluency disorders.
  • Assessment and treatment of speech and language disorders secondary to hearing impairments.
  • Assessment and treatment of communication defects of the geriatric population.
  • Assessment and treatment of dysphagia.
  • Assessment and treatment of pediatric speech and language disorders.
  • Evaluates, records, and reports on patient's progress for review by other members of the rehabilitative team.


REQUISITIONS, SUPPLIES, AND EQUIPMENT
  • Conducts inservices and/or participates in training medical and nursing personnel and other workers in speech-language pathology therapy techniques and objectives.
  • Plans, coordinates, and supervises graduate students in speech pathology for internships in the service area.
  • Develops and implements a program of quarterly review of the quality of speech-language pathology services.


Qualifications

Minimum of M.S./M.A. degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Must have necessary requisites for licensure in North Dakota and current certification by ASHA.

Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) is required to be working on or achieved. Mentor available for CFY.
