Payroll Tax Accountant

Position Description:
NDSU is seeking an Accountant with experience in payroll and multi-state taxation to join our team in providing support to the university payroll and employee tax processes. The Payroll Tax Accountant must be compliance and customer-focused, and possess strong technology skills. This position will support the university payroll process, to include tax payments, remittance, and reporting; coordinate payroll process with Accounting to reconcile payroll information with the general; perform payroll reconciliation and ensure payroll tax compliance for multi-state, federal and international.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Accounting
• Demonstrated detailed knowledge and understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliation and payroll
• 3 years experience in an accounting or business related position to include payroll, payroll taxes and reconciliation experience
• Strong computer proficiency using various software programs
• Organizational and leadership skills with an ability to work with and motivate others
• Demonstrated oral, written and interpersonal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• CPA
• Advanced degree
• Certification in accounting or payroll
• Higher Education experience
• Experience with multi-state taxes
• Effective analytical and problem solving skills
