Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification: $49,000/Annual, Full time, Benefited, Exempt
Benefits: Includes single or family health care coverage (premiums paid for by the university), basic life insurance, EAP, retirement plan, tuition waiver, annual and sick leave.  Optional benefits available: supplemental life, dental, vision, long term care insurance, flexible spending account, supplemental retirement plans.

This is a unique opportunity for an entry level professional to develop skills in a team setting with a focus on our mission. This position will work with the UCC team in fulfilling Clinical, Education, and Outreach duties, which are the three pillars of our center.  
UCC Mission:
With special attention to promoting diversity the University Counseling Center empowers all students to reach their fullest potential while providing challenging self-growth opportunities through a full-range of therapeutic interventions and training opportunities.


To provide individual, couples, and/or group counseling to University Students, and serve as a consultant in regard to substance use matters to faculty, staff, and other members of the University community. Participate with the team in a variety of outreach activities, with a focus on diverse student populations. Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Conduct intake interviews, diagnosis, consultations, referrals (as needed), and provide ongoing therapy to University students, couples, and/or groups
  • Provide emergency and walk-in services to students
  • Participate in case conferences, staff meetings, and in-service presentations
  • Conduct Outreach services
  • Represent the University Counseling Center for campus committees or groups
  • Engage in professional activities and professional development
    • Will receive supervision from current LACs/LPCCs on staff
  • Participate in diversity oriented workshop, retreat, conference, or program development in support of diversity at UND
  • Adhere to the Community Values Statement of UND

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in Counseling
  • Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) or eligible for LAC status by September 2018
  • Eligible to obtain LAPC status within 12 months of start date
  • Experience with counseling specific to young adult populations
  • Successful completion of a criminal history background check

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Training and experience specific to working with diverse populations
  • Experience counseling crisis/trauma victims
  • Experience working in a counseling center
