Job Summary

The Process Improvement (PI) Technician supports the Operational Excellence initiatives to improve overall business efficiencies with measurable performance metrics which include diagramming the flow of a business process, identifying opportunities for improvement, and supporting the project plan for successful implementation and measurement of process gains. This position may manage a degree of process improvement projects.

Essential Functions

Key Duties/Responsibilities/Accountabilities
  • Gathers key information essential to the planning and organizational process and utilizes processes, tools, and/or formal mechanisms to effectively monitor and manage results.
  • Provides advice and guidance to resolve, implement, or manage program or policy issues that involve areas of uncertainty in approach or methodology.
  • Assists in developing tools and resources for the Operational Excellence area to provide education and guidance to all areas of the enterprise.
  • Promotes business enhancement efforts with the goal of creating a positive impact on the customer experience and geared towards creating efficiencies, educating and coaching company personnel on LEAN concepts, creating tools and methods, training support continuous improvement events, and providing guidance to sustain improvement changes.
  • Leads, participates, and/or provides support for special projects performing research, and other tasks as needed.
  • Provides assistance such as conducting time studies or useful problem solving exercises.
  • Committed to the development of the customer experience and effectively communicates needs.
  • Demonstrates a combination of listening, communication, problem solving, and facilitation skills thoroughly understands and diagnoses customer issues.
  • Carries out analysis relative to achieving critical to customer requirements and searches for improvement opportunities based on situational needs.
  • Organizes work, sets priorities, and determines resources requirements.
  • Determines necessary sequence of activities needed to achieve goals.
  • Maintains project plans and other work status tools.
  • Stresses the application of principles and tools towards the sustainable improvement of key performance metrics for the organization.
  • Leads/participates in cost reduction initiatives.
  • Uses technical understanding to train and assist staff.
  • Improves or designs processes, tools, or technologies to determine applicability.
  • Collects, organization, and prioritizes information from diverse sources and collaborates with people in technical fields who possess the necessary information.

Requirements

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in engineering, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, business administration, or closely related field OR equivalent work experience
  • 1-year process improvement experience


Preferred Qualifications:
  • LEAN implementation
  • LEAN/Six Sigma certification
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • 5 years' process improvement experience
