Hiring Department:    Information Resources, School of Medicine and Health Sciences

Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Status:   $60,000 +/ year, Full-Time, Benefitted, Exempt
Benefits: Include single or family health care coverage, basic life insurance, EAP, retirement plan, tuition waiver, annual and sick leave. Optional benefits available: supplemental life, dental, vision,

Work Schedule:  Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.

Software Development and Design:
 

  • Work with Application Developer to maintain existing SMHS .Net web applications, with a focus on back-end development.
  • Provide backend services creation and maintenance on Windows servers.
  • Implement or consume APIs or SDKs from internal or external sources.
  • Maintain development workflow software for continuous integration and deployment of software.
  • Apply authentication techniques in websites.
  • Secure applications and perform vulnerability tests.
  • Troubleshoot problems that might arise in applications and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop applications using .Net stack and SQL Server databases.


Information Management System Development and Maintenance:

Assist the Systems Administrator with:

  • Troubleshooting problems that arise on systems hosting software built in-house or 3rd party software that integrates with software built in-house.
  • Analysis, monitoring, and correcting systems and server problems; diagnosis and repair of malfunctioning hardware and software.
  • Purchasing and set-up of equipment that will be used for an internal solution.
  • Provision of backup and disaster recovery processes.
  • Security and vulnerability management procedures.
  • Evaluating systems design changes in test environment and conducting research to evaluate new technologies.
  • Informing and training faculty and staff on new network technology capabilities.


Information Technology Support:
 

  • Work closely with SMHS faculty, staff, and students to assist with their various technology needs; attend meeting, provide support and consultation as needed.
  • Coordinate, collaborate, and contribute to the team efforts of all Information Resources support staff and be willing to provide help where needed.


Required Competencies:
 

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be self-motivated and self-directed.
  • Ability to take initiative, multi-task and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability and desire to learn and improve skills.




Minimum Requirements:
 

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
  • 3 years relevant work experience in information technology.
  • Experience with Windows Server 2008, 2012, and 2016 in IIS.
  • Experience with Jenkins or other development workflow software for continuous integration and deployment of software.
  • Successful completion of criminal history records check.

Preferred Qualifications:
 

  • Experience with authentication techniques in websites.
  • Experience with securing applications and performing vulnerability tests
  • Experience with C#, ASP.NET MVC, and SQL Server is desired.
  • Experience with AJAX and JavaScript frameworks is a plus.
  • Proficiency with automated testing platforms and unit tests is a bonus.
  • Proficiency with Git is a bonus.
  • Experience with virtual machines or docker containers in a bonus
  • Experience with Linux is a bonus.
  • Experience with:
    • Multiple web servers, IIS, Apache, Nginx
    • Active Directory and Group Policy
    • Windows Update Services & Deployment Services
    • Powershell scripting
    • Linux/Unix
    • VMWare
    • Storage Area Networks
    • Backend services and APIs
