$21.25/hr on a rotating 12 hour shift

The Water Treatment Operator monitors all parameters surrounding water treatment including the factory flume water/ponds systems.

Job Duties include but not limited to the following:
  • Operates mud presses and related equipment associated with the flume operation.
  • Responsible for pond inspections, examples: pond levels, pump inspections, setup temporary pumping stations and hoses to manage pond water.
  • Collects samples and operates laboratory equipment, performs analytical tests - percent solids, settling, pH and other analytical tests with accuracy for monitoring water treatmentprocesses. Performs related recordkeeping.
  • Monitors water treatment-system operation - aerobic, anaerobic, flume clarifier and the methane system to maintain operating targets.
  • Performs miscellaneous mechanical duties, examples: change valves, gauges, etc., as required to ensure maximum operating efficiency.
  • Understands and is able to identify water treatment equipment.
  • Adjusts process flow to maintain efficient operation of all water systems in accordance with established guidelines and safety rules .
  • Makes process changes locally or on computer control system.
  • Maintains good housekeeping practice of equipment, all work areas and building for a clean and safe working environment.
  • Makes routine rounds when on shift to ensure all equipment is functioning properly, and reports critical issues to the shift supervisor.
  • Performs lubrication rounds, i.e. oil, grease and performs other minor maintenance on all water treatmentsequipment.


Minimum Requirements

High School diploma or a GED certificate is required.

Mechanical Aptitude Test and Basic Skills Test to verify basic skills and knowledge.

Able to read, write and communicate effectively.

Basic math skills and an attitude of care with an attention to detail to ensure accuracy of work.

Must take the training from NDSHD (North Dakota State Health Department) or MPCA (Minnesota Pollution Control Agency) (where applicable) and obtain Grade 1 ND Wastewater or Class D Operator's license within 18 months.
