Job Function/Requirements: 

  • Plan, coordinate and supervise all activities in within IO/Manufacturing to insure excellent customer service, quality products and regulatory compliance

Essential Job Duties: 

  • Provide leadership to all Manufacturing personnel
  • Monitor all phases of vaccine manufacturing to ensure proper and acceptable laboratory practices are adhered to
  • Monitor all phases of vaccine manufacturing to insure compliance with approved production outlines
  • Ensure records and documents used in the vaccine process are properly filled out and maintained, as well as mandatory inventory control measures involved with the manufacturing process
  • Ensure all vaccine manufacturing personnel are properly trained with regards to good and safe laboratory practices and procedures and each have participated in designated training sessions with regards to company policies, specified SOPs, and regulatory compliance issues
  • Ensure the manufacturing facilities and equipment are properly maintained
  • Review performance of IO/Manufacturing personnel at required intervals, according to established structure (leading a group of supervisors)
  • Review of budgetary devices and spending authorization with oversight from the Director of Industrial Operations
  • Review of Capital Expenditure and Long Range Planning with regards to technology applications and scale-up/capacity
  • Understand and evaluate Key Performance Indicators
  • Provide up to date information for Executive Management regarding site performance and overall evaluation
  • Mastery of all guidance and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory agencies including the USDA, OSHA, Federal, State and Local Agencies, as well as Corporate guidance in all facets of operations
  • Introduce and establish right level of quality in all processes
  • Facilitate continuous improvement within the staff as well as the processes/products
  • Engages with and facilitates cross-functional departments for optimal communication and understanding
  • Facilitate technology transfer and introduction as necessary
  • Must pass medical clearance/fit testing, when required
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. on occasion
  • Other duties as assigned

Nature and Scope: 

  • The incumbent reports to the Director of Industrial Operations
  • The position interacts with Customer Service, Facilities Maintenance, Purchasing Agent, R&D, QA, Quality Control, Regulatory Affairs, and all relevant corporate entities
  • The incumbent has the authority to recommend immediate action against IO/Manufacturing staff according to the best interest of the company and with oversight from Senior and Executive level Management
  • Works in a safe and productive manner with the guidelines established by policy and delegated authority
  • Accountable for complying with the Boehringer-Ingelheim/Newport Business Code of Ethics to the highest standards
  • Accountable for complying with the Company Handbook, all policies set by the Company and governmental regulations

Requirements: 

  • The position requires a college degree in biological sciences or equivalent experience in animal vaccine production and veterinary microbiology
  • Incumbent must demonstrate clear mastery of regulations and process controls
  • Previous management experience is preferred
  • The incumbent is responsible for meeting or exceeding all practices leading to quality products and excellent customer service
