Job Summary

The Healthcare Data Analyst is responsible for gathering, researching, and validating healthcare data from a variety of data sources in fulfillment of requests and projects from internal and external customers. This position conducts healthcare data analysis to provide actionable information such as data reporting, converting customer requests to technical details, and ensuring deliverable requests are fulfilled.

Essential Functions

Key Duties/Responsibilities/Accountabilities
  • Gathers information from all customers to determine data needs and specifications.
  • Researches, evaluates, and determines appropriate methods and sources for extracting data and serves as a data translator between business units and data systems.
  • Integrates data from multiple and varied sources and applies business rules for creating analytic data sets.
  • Aggregates raw data from the data warehouse and exports into actionable format.
  • Prepares data for further analytic review, presentation, or reporting.
  • Communicates and collaborates with customers to ensure requests are understood and fulfilled.
  • Collaborates with Statisticians to build advanced reporting for requesters requiring high level Statement of Auditing Standards (SAS) technical skills or proactive analytics.
  • Utilizes various analytic tools to develop reports with a variety of sources such as data warehouse, system reports, systems screens, databases, etc. for internal and external customers.
  • Alters SAS scripts to produce standard and recurring requests.
  • Provides an overview of the report findings and recommendations for the data use to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Monitors team workloads and communications to meet contractual requirements.

Non-Essential Duties and Functions
  • Coordinates special projects as assigned.
  • Provides departmental support to all areas of data analytics department and other teams within organization.
  • Develops and maintains workflow process documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, mathematics, computer science, or closely related field
  • 1 year of related work experience in data analytics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills


Preferred Qualifications:

Above requirements and the following:
  • Experience working with reporting applications, data warehouse concepts, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience with healthcare analytics and data analysis
  • Experience in analytics report writing

  • Office Environment
  • Ability to read, hear, speak, keyboard, reason, communicate effectively and problem solve
  • Requires prolonged sitting and telephone usage
  • Requires the use of office equipment such as computer terminals, telephones, copiers and printers
  • Infrequent lifting up to 15 pounds
  • Infrequent stooping
  • Ability to travel
