Job Description
The Preventative Maintenance Technician is a union position, with a starting wage of $24.42/hour. This position is responsible for equipment lubrication, contamination control, inspection and proactive maintenance activities for all lubricated mechanical systems in the mill. Qualified candidates would possess a mechanical knowledge, computer knowledge and good written and oral communication skills. This position works frequently alone and at times in a team based environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Daily lubrication rounds that include equipment inspections, reservoir top off, grease re-lubrication, and oil sampling using established procedures.
- Supporting lubrication team members with shut downs, vacations, and other needs as required.
- Inventory control of lubricants used within your work area
- Use Computerized Maintenance Management System to manage lube routes, log hours, and report any equipment that requires corrective action.
- Use LubeIT software to track equipment lubrication requirements.
- Write, review, and update task lists and procedures
- Operate mobile filtration equipment
- Continuous improvement of lubrication process and equipment that may include extending lubrication lines, sample ports, filter cart adaptors on gearbox and hydraulic reservoirs, evaluating installing automatic lubricators or other proactive improvements.
- Troubleshoot common lubrication-related equipment problems.
- Evaluate oil analysis results and take appropriate actions
- Calculate re-grease quantities and frequencies
- Use other predictive maintenance tools such as Infrared thermography, ultrasonic, patch testing, and crackle test.
- Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis cross functional teams
- Maintain environmental compliance and good housekeeping practices
- Maintain lubrication points and equipment with correct labeling
