JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Financial Reporting is responsible for providing financial analysis, business strategy, and project management for new business development initiatives, which may include internal strategic development, merger/acquisition opportunities, divestitures, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships. These activities include performing competitive market analysis and identifying potential merger/acquisition opportunities, coordinating and conducting due diligence activities, and leading finance integration. Works closely with Corporate Accounting and Finance functions as it relates to the budget forecast process and re-engineering of financial systems to suit changing business needs. Main responsibilities include internal and external consolidated financial reporting; mergers and acquisitions analysis, due diligence, and implementation; accounting system configuration; affiliate and strategic site system and training support; and ad-hoc analysis. Position co-leads with Director of Accounting and share in accountabilities for financial statement audits; research GAAP accounting pronouncements and applicability to Sanford and its subsidiaries; standardization and centralization of accounting and processes; and budget inputs at a global level.Manages the operations of the department including human resources, budget and finance, short and long-range planning, legal and regulatory compliance, and providing professional and/or technical expertise. Provides direction for strong financial stewardship and administrative practices. Serves as an expert on U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and ensures compliance to the principles. Works on complex matters where analysis of issues, data, processes and situations requires an in-depth knowledge of enterprise and departmental objectives, as well as in-depth industry and technical knowledge. Decisions are typically related to quality standards, service approach, interpretation of guidelines, escalated exceptions, and the implementation of new or updated programs or large-scale projects for the department and organization. Decisions are guided by extensive experience and department goals. Requires thorough understanding of organizational capabilities across all departments and how they interrelate to one another; serves as a central liaison between finance teams and executive leadership. Translates organization's vision and mission into actionable goals and projects. Leads change management initiatives and aligns them with organizational values and strategic intent, makes adjustments as necessary. Applies advanced technical knowledge of the department to solve complex problems, which may have long-term impact on the department and possibly the sub function. Regularly has high impact, critical conversations with executive leadership and corporate accounting team; persuades, influences or leads others in implementing strategic change. Strategically builds a productive and focused team to achieve the objectives of the department, co-led with the Director, Accounting. Assesses and directs strategic staffing needs of overall operation; when necessary, establishes business case for additional resources and escalates to senior leadership. Responsible for performance reviews, hiring, promotions or job changes, disciplinary action, employee development and compensation recommendations. Responsible for leveraging team capabilities; has latitude to make changes to job design, recommend job assignments and commit resources to longer-term projects and initiatives. In addition to technical expertise over accounting principles and standards, must have excellent communication and problem solving skills. Must have excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Must be able to organize and prioritize multiple tasks effectively. Must demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail.

Develops strategies to align the operating costs of all major financial applications to organizational goals. Discusses alternative budgeting strategies versus business situations. Monitors and ensures adherence to organization's financial practices and standards. Analyzes business performance or trends of any organization: competitors, customers, or partners. Conducts effective meetings on high-impact, critical issues at all levels of the organization. Provides ongoing clarity about the organizational goals and vision and how each individual can contribute. Participates in investigating, documenting, and addressing allegedly unethical behavior. Represents the organization faithfully and accurately with internal and external audiences. Uses a broad range of techniques in communicating complex ideas to diverse populations. Leads using a consistent, recognizable, and fully developed style. Directs development of quality guidelines, policies, and procedures. Champions teamwork and delivery of superior products, services and service as keys to organizational success. Leads the way in viewing setbacks or failures as learning opportunities.

DEPARTMENT DETAILS:

QUALIFICATIONS

Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or other professional certification is required. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or other Business-related degree with an Accounting minor required. Accounting degree is preferred. Experience in public accounting required. Must have at least 8 years of related work experience.
