JOB SUMMARY

Perform preliminary screening examinatons and/or tests to facilitate diagnosis and treatment by the provider. Assist the physician with procedures and care of the patent. Collect subjectve and objectve ophthalmic data from the patent or caregiver and communicate this data to the doctor.
Assist physicians in performing ophthalmic procedures, including surgery. Clean or sterilize ophthalmic or surgical instruments. Conduct visual feld tests to measure feld of vision. Maintain ophthalmic instruments or equipment. Measure visual acuity, including near, distance, pinhole, or dynamic visual acuity, using appropriate tests. Operate ophthalmic equipment, such as autorefractors, phoropters, tomographs, or retnoscopes. Take and document patents' medical histories.

QUALIFICATIONS

Certified Ophthalmic Assistant preferred. High School graduate is required. Must have knowledge of medical terminology, graduate of a two year ophthalmic training course preferred. Previous health care experience in ophthalmology, optometry, and/or optical office preferred. Basic Life Support Cer
