JOB SUMMARY

Retrieves electronic and paper-based patient records; maintains patient records according to established filing system. Assisting with answering telephones, filing, photocopying, faxing, sorting mail, distributing reports, etc. Working with computer-based document retrieval system of a healthcare facility to locate, print and deliver document and images as requested. Performing clerical and secretarial duties and adhering to file management policies and procedures of the healthcare facility. Maintaining strict confidentiality according to healthcare organization and regulatory agency requirements, such as HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act).

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
This position helps coordinate and assign nursing/nursing assistant staff for the inpatient medical surgical units.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school graduate; post-secondary clerical education preferred. One year previous clerical experience; prior experience in a public contact job is essential. Must have knowledge of general office procedures and equipment, including utilizing computers. Must have knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet application programs.
