Job Details

The Equipment Repair Technician is responsible for the timely and efficient repair of customer equipment as well as the repair and maintenance of all company owned rental equipment. Maintain appropriate documentation, establish, implement and monitor policies and procedures to ensure accurate servicing of equipment.


JOB RELATIONSHIPS:

A. REPORTS TO: Branch Manager

B. SUPERVISES: N/A

C. INTERRELATIONSHIPS WITH: Rice Home Medical Operations Director, Managers, Sales Director, Regional Account Representatives, Customer Service and In-House Sales Representatives, and Equipment Repair Technicians. Occasional contact with Rice Memorial Hospital staff.


HOURS OF WORK: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Monday - Friday


DRESS CODE: Business Casual with company name badge. Must be neat and clean in appearance.


ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS OF WORK (Minimum qualifications necessary to function at full productivity).

A. EDUCATION AND TRAINING: • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required • Previous repair experience preferred.

B. EXPERIENCE: • Minimum - 3-5 years mechanical repair experience required,

preferably in the Medical field.

• General computer skills required

C. JOB KNOWLEDGE (Specific): • Working knowledge of durable medical and equipment operation,

use and repair • Excellent driving record.

CLIENTELE DIRECTLY AFFECTED BY JOB: This position will interact with all areas of Rice Home Medical. Works directly with delivery technicians, equipment repair technicians and customer service representatives.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE JOB: In an average 8 hour day the employee lifts/carries up to 65 pounds frequently up to 100 pounds maximum, stands/walks 5-7 hours, sits 1-3 hours, and drives 1-2 hours. While repairing equipment, employee is required to stoop, kneel and twist to perform repairs.


PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT OF THE JOB: Repair shop and warehouse atmosphere with adequate light and temperature. Noise created from power tools occurs regularly.


EQUIPMENT OR MACHINES USED ON THE JOB: Required to use basic tools both manual and power used in repair of medical equipment. Diagnostic tools utilized when available. Computer, keyboard, e-mail, cell phone, photocopiers, scanner, fax machine and calculator. Equipment clinical in nature such as oxygen concentrators, nebulizers, power scooters, hospital beds, patient lifts, and wheelchairs. Warehouse equipment including pallet jacks (mechanical, hydraulic).


MENTAL DEMANDS OF THE JOB: Must be able to manage multiple projects, multitask, work with many different personalities, as well as other stressful situations.

B. INDEPENDENT ACTION: Ability to analyze situations, develop options and make mature judgments. Analysis of estimates and quotes and information. Enforce process improvement practices.

C. EFFECT OF ERROR: Negative effect on financial condition of Rice Home Medical and Rice Memorial Hospital as well as customer dissatisfaction

due to negative customer experiences. Errors are addressed with reeducation by management.

D. CONTACT WITH OTHERS: Regular daily contact with customers of Rice Home Medical, referrals and with other Rice Home Medical employees. Occasional contact with Rice Memorial Hospital employees, vendors or manufacturers.


PRINCIPAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES, TASKS, AND AUTHORITIES:

A. RESPONSIBILITY: Equipment Repair & Maintenance

PRIORITY: A % OF TIME: 80% DISCRETION: A

TASKS: 1. Repair rental fleet or customer owned equipment in a timely, cost

effective manner. 2. Determine when repairs are not appropriate and notify customer

and/or customer service representative. 3. Responsible to order parts and supplies needed for repair of

durable medical equipment. 4. Maintain appropriate inventory adhering to company approved

levels. 5. Verify warranty repair expense and charge for labor according to

warranty and company policy. 6. Assist with delivery or exchange of equipment to customers home

for emergency situation and complete required delivery ticket and documentation.

7. Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area. 8. Responsible to assist with maintenance of overall building functions

and repairs in coordination with Materials Manager. 9. Make recommendations to the Materials Manager regarding tool

and equipment replacement. 10. Required to be trained as well as provide training to employees in

pertinent areas of equipment/supplies.

B. RESPONSIBILITY: Documentation of Repair & Maintenance

PRIORITY: A % OF TIME: 5% DISCRETION: C

TASKS: 1. Maintain documentation on all repairs in approved asset

maintenance tracking tool or in customer chart. 2. Complete sales invoice billing for repairs performed and associated

labor charges.

3. Maintain manufacturer repair and maintenance manuals, warranty and other related documents for equipment distributed by Rice Home Medical.

C. RESPONSIBILITY: Preform Other Related Duties Assigned

TASKS: 1. Responsible for attendance at in store in-services and meetings

and other workshops to stay current with job responsibilities and a minimum of 6 hours of education each year.

2. Punctual attendance without habitual tardiness or absence without authorization.

3. Maintain customer confidentiality and adhere to HIPPA regulations in relation to customers PHI at all times.

4. Preform other duties assigned by management.

Home Medical safety Committee. 9. Seek answers to questions you have about the Safety Program.
