Job Details

The University of Wisconsin-River Falls (UWRF), a member of the University of Wisconsin System, is located on the eastern edge of the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area in scenic west central Wisconsin. Year-round arts, cultural, and recreational activities and events are easily accessible from River Falls. The 6,100 undergraduate and graduate students at UWRF pursue degrees in four colleges: Education and Professional Studies; Arts and Sciences; Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences; and Business and Economics.

Job Duties: Position provides comprehensive maintenance of the indoor and outdoor facilities that make up the Falcon Center Complex and other areas as specified (i.e., Intramural Athletic Complex, Amphitheater, David Smith Stadium and Ramer Field, as well as the softball, soccer, tennis and track and field facilities). These facilities are to be maintained at a high level in order to provide attractive, useful and a safe campus environment to meet diverse university community needs. The position will report to the Director of Falcon Center Operations. This is a full-time position that requires a flexible schedule due to the nature of maintaining a multi-purpose facility with many stakeholders and events and activities outside of the M-F 7:00AM-3:30PM timeframe. Evening, weekend, and on-call scheduling is required due to the nature of the constituents being served. The Facilities Repair Worker will be exposed to a wide array of responsibilities as a result of the dynamic environment of the Health and Human Performance, Campus Recreation, Athletic Department, and community activities. This position will require complex custodial and maintenance of state of the art facility equipment; be directly involved with the leadership of other employees; may require specialized licensing and certifications; and often be responsible for coordinating the facilities and grounds maintenance shop.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
*Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written) and the interpersonal skills necessary to interact with coworkers, supervisors, other staff and the public.
*General knowledge of custodial supply and care of a multiuse complex.
*Ability to supervise, train, evaluate and schedule a staff, comprised mainly of student workers, in the custodial care of a multi-building complex.
*Ability to assign duties to staff to ensure efficient execution of providing a clean facility.
*Mechanical skills, or ability to learn, to use, safely operate and maintain facility and grounds equipment, vehicles and all tools (hand and power) in performance of assigned duties.
*Safe practices of moving of equipment and supplies.
*Mathematical skills necessary to calculate percentages, ratios, distance, area, volume and cost estimates.
*Ability to learn and perform all essential job functions accurately and safely with minimal direct supervision.
*Ability to maintain a valid driver's license which permits Wisconsin certification to drive University vehicles.
*Possess or be willing to obtain fork lift certification.
*Ability to work outside of regular schedule for emergencies, athletic contests and special events; provide UWRF with contact information to be used in the event of an emergency and be willing to respond in a timely manner.
*Ability to perform seasonal outdoor maintenance in all types of weather.
*Visual acuity necessary to read parts books and equipment manuals; manual dexterity with to operate hand and power tools, maintain records and complete paperwork, operate computer terminal.
*Physical ability to perform tasks including stoop, bend, crawl to service equipment as well as standing, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs and ladders and walking significant distances.
*Ability to perform general maintenance of a large multi-building complex including painting, light plumbing and general carpentry.
*Ability required for sustained and/or repetitive lifting of 50 lbs.
*Ability to complete and successfully pass pre-employment screen.
*Knowledge and experience with relevant computer equipment and applications (Work Order systems, Microsoft Office Suite, Event Management software, etc.).
*Ability to perform routine tasks, maintain records of equipment and PM's completed as scheduled.
*Ability to organize work tasks logically and efficiently.
*Knowledge of proper handling and storage of all chemicals in and around the facility.
