Overview

Purpose

This position is responsible for preparing tax returns in compliance with applicable regulations, accurately accounting for tax transactions, and accurately accounting for fixed asset and other corporate accounting transactions and is a support resource for the Titan Shared Resource Center (SRC) and store locations. Titan's Tax Department is responsible for all matters related to, but not limited to, the following types of taxes: Income Tax - Federal and State, Sales Tax, Federal Excise Tax, Real Estate Tax, and Personal Property Tax. The Tax Department is also responsible for accounting for fixed assets as described below.

Responsibilities

  • Complete timely and accurately, tax returns/filings, supporting schedules and payments
  • Complete timely and accurately, reconciliations of the tax general ledger accounts
  • Timely research on tax issues as they arise and make necessary follow-up, which may include entries and adjustments, communications with store or SRC personnel, and/or working with IT to correct the issue in the future
  • Timely response to questions from store and wholegoods processing personnel
  • Monitor compliance with policies and procedures of the various taxing authorities and Titan Machinery, and report accordingly
  • Facilitate tax audits
  • Responsible for maintaining and reconciling fixed asset ledgers and supporting schedules
  • Responsible for creating new fixed asset records with appropriate class, useful life, salvage value, and depreciation method for all book and tax ledgers
  • Responsible for processing fixed asset record disposals
  • Process depreciation expense on a monthly basis
  • Timely research and resolution of issues as they arise, including preparing the necessary entries and adjustments to correct identified issues
  • Assist in working with external and internal auditors to enable timely execution of their audit/review procedures
  • Respond to questions from store locations regarding the areas of responsibility
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

Required:
  • 4-year degree in Accounting or Business
  • Ability to handle and resolve frequent interpersonal conflict
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced, stressful work environment
  • Ability to respond quickly, accurately, and professionally to demands and requests from customers and employees
  • Ability to travel on a limited basis and work flexible hours

Physical Requirements

Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects including the human body.
