Position Overview

The Innovation team is responsible for delivering creative solutions to complex business challenges that intend to aid in the creation of a new market opportunity or increase our competitive advantage. The actions required to deliver this value is paramount to Digi-Key's future growth. This position is responsible for ensuring on-time delivery of complex, cross-departmental projects that span between solutions found in the market, and those that require new product design. The Innovation Team champions, facilitates, evaluates and identifies innovative opportunities within and outside the organization. The team is responsible for working across departmental lines, influencing change and helping to create a culture that is open to new ideas and technology.
The Sr. Project Leader is responsible for managing multiple medium to large size projects concurrently. The positions focus is to effectively plan, lead, organize, and execute projects to achieve a high level of performance and quality that provide exceptional business value to the organization.

  • Lead large efforts which scale across multiple development teams
  • Interface with both technical and non-technical leaders and team members
  • Be Knowledgeable of the industry, organization and solutions
  • Have proven leadership skills
  • Have proven capability to discuss business with new and potential vendors
  • Conceptualize potential use cases and creative solutions
  • Be capable of holistic thinking to ensure all avenues are considered
  • Multi-task with high level of self-motivation
Other typical tasks may include
  • Taking on additional responsibilities from Program Leader or Manager, Operational Excellence
  • Attends meetings, conferences and/or seminars; gains outside Digi-Key perspective and best practices
  • Potential for travel to see new automation opportunities as part of the qualification process

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Minimum/Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Product Design & Development, Business Development, Business Administration or similar area of study or equivalent, relevant work experience
  • Three to five years of experience working in roles that would be viewed as a key lead in driving innovative change in various business functions
  • Understanding of build vs. buy decision making
  • Proven track record of qualifying new ideas and preparing data and other information into digestible, presentable documents
  • Generally, spend the workday sitting at a workstation and operating computer devices, such as, but not limited to keyboard, mouse and screen
  • Generally, spend the workday performing repetitive motions that involve or affect the hands, head, and other parts of your body
  • Must demonstrate the following behavioral competencies: attention to detail, communication, continuous learning, creativity, customer service, developing others, information seeking, influence, initiative, planning and organizing, professionalism, problem solving, positive attitude and teamwork
