Position Overview

The Manager, Supplier Business Development is responsible for managing key supplier relationships and partnership marketing direction for the Japanese marketplace. The emphasis of the position is to be the catalyst to drive key creative initiatives, develop local relationships, while utilizing the internal resources available.

Responsibilities
Must be able to...
  • Oversee and drive Digi-Key's overall performance for assigned suppliers which includes revenue, customer expansion, product technology and strategic marketing initiatives
  • Understand and represent Suppliers' and Digi-Key's value proposition to one another to support our Partnership Marketing objectives. Grow and manage corporate relationships between Digi-Key and suppliers
  • Ability to navigate within the supplier in order create relationships and understand vendor's reporting hierarchy
  • Serve as the primary Digi-Key point of contact to assigned suppliers in the local marketplace
  • Understand supplier's competitiveness, channel and business strategy
  • Manage and communicate all pertinent information to appropriate levels within both Digi-Key and supplier management teams
  • Manage and maintain all appropriate business metrics and communicate performance to plan
  • Work closely with Product Management, Asset Management and Supplier Marketing to drive strategic supplier specific goals
  • Know and understand area Key Performance indicators (KPI's)
  • Responsible for quarterly communication
  • Demonstrate significant self-initiative in learning all aspects of the business
  • Oversee and determine through supplier selection, appropriate suppliers for Digi-Key line card
  • Support and develop strategies to leverage technical capabilities to capture value creation opportunities
  • Subject matter expert for assigned suppliers and Japanese marketplace
Other typical tasks may also include...
  • Travel on a limited basis (once per month possibly)

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Minimum/Essential Qualifications :
  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field preferred with more than five years of experience in electronic component sales and marketing
  • Strong organizational and communication skills in both Japanese and English
  • Ability to build influential relationships both internally and externally
  • Ability to work remotely (self-starter) and connect with corporate resources
  • Strong presentation skills for a variety of audiences including executive management/C-Level
  • Team player with demonstrated proficiency in a matrix resource environment

Preferred Qualifications/Selection Criteria :
  • Proficient with Excel and able to analyze data to quickly uncover trends and opportunities
  • Strong marketing experience
  • Demonstrated experience in resource management and technical background, or in selling to an engineering clientele
