Job Details
o High school graduate or equivalent. Minimum Requirement: State of MN 1st Class Engineer, Grade B license. Engineers will have a good understanding of repair maintenance and general maintenance of equipment. One year's experience as an Engineer in a health care facility preferred with ability to perform hospital engineer duties consistent with the position.
Hours
Primary Shift - 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
Rotating the following as needed (approximately every 12 weeks) 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm or 11:00 - 7:00 am
Job Description
The Engineer is responsible for performing maintenance, repair and plant operation duties as assigned. They will repair or correct malfunctioning hospital equipment as needed. He/she also will do snow/ice removal/grounds maintenance.
Essential Functions
Knowledge& Skill
A courteous, respectful manner and a prompt response is shown toward all who come to the Engineering Department for service or requests.
Has a good understanding of repair maintenance and general maintenance of equipment.
Work is diversified and requires initiative, utilizing general guidelines and direction to complete various duties of the positions.
Complexity
Engineer will demonstrate the ability to handle diversified jobs requiring intermittent sustained mental effort, arrange and complete assignments on a given schedule in an organized manner and handle assignments when serving a sole engineer on a shift.
Job duties can change from day to day and on busy shifts, the Engineer needs to prioritize job tasks in order to meet deadlines.
Alert to the many details of a variety of jobs.
Ability to accomplish tasks without direct managerial intervention.
Relationships
The engineer has frequent contact with all departments of the hospital, doctors and business affiliates.
A courteous, respectful manner is shown toward all who come to the Engineering Department requesting service and information.
Employee shows respect for the opinion of others, constructively discussing areas of disagreement.
Shows a prompt response to inquiries and/or assistance.
Shows a level of flexibility when dealing with job requests.
Records& Reports
• The Engineer may be asked to assist the Engineering Director in compiling data, etc., for Quality Assurance reports and/or information requested by the Safety Committee.
Will be expected to conduct fire drills on varying shifts and report the details.
Works on a variety of reports dealing with the operation of various equipment in different areas of the hospital.
Track and records dates and time of completed work on work orders
Other Duties
Performs other duties as requested.
Participates in departmental or organizational meetings and trainings.
Demonstrates ability to use equipment relevant to the position.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not provide direct supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent and shall be licensed by the State of Minnesota. 1st Class Engineer, Grade B.
