Cirrus Aircraft is looking for a Personalization Designer to join our Xi Design Team. The Xi Program enables Cirrus customers to personalize their aircraft and experience 'the art of the possible'. As a Personalization Designer you will be responsible for developing custom Xi design concepts, while working closely with the customer and production teams from outset through completion.

In this role you will design both the interior and exterior of Xi aircraft. This will include bespoke livery design, tailored seat upholstery and cabin material definition. You will work closely with internal and external teams to communicate new product ideas, expand the Xi material library and continually refine the Xi design process. In addition to Xi, you will be asked to provide industrial design support for the Vision Jet and SR product lines.

To continue to make Xi and Cirrus the benchmark in general aviation, you will stay attuned to developments in the aviation and automotive industry. As a Personalization Designer for the Xi Program, your design vision and aesthetic will help shape the next generation of Cirrus Aircraft.

Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Participate in ideation and concept development exercises for the SRx, Vision Jet and Xi.
  • Collaborate with Cirrus engineering, manufacturing and marketing to develop Xi design ideas.
  • Use market research, customer experience, trends, human factors and physical prototypes to advance your designs.
  • Develop 2D hand sketches and on occasion work with 3D CAD models to communicate your design ideas. Ability to show strong understanding of design from a functional point of view as well as aesthetic is highly desired.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to identify and promote new and innovative materials for use in production aircraft.
  • Support exterior aircraft livery design by working closely with production and Xi customers.
  • Continually promote thoughtful design ideas that advance Cirrus products as well as Xi.


Qualifications:

The ideal candidate would possess in-depth understanding of the following programs:
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of digital renderings for visual communication.
  • Adobe Creative Suite products (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.)
  • VRED, Keyshot or similar rendering software
  • CAD Software: Alias, ICEM, Rhino MODO, or Maya
  • Equal understanding of Apple and Windows platforms.
  • Wacom tablet or similar.
  • Keynote
  • MS Office


Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelors (BFA) Industrial Design or Product Design.
  • 4+ years of experience in automotive, aviation or similar industries.
  • Experience with interior design and architecture also considered.
