Job Details

The Guest Service Representative provides concierge services for lodging, meals and transportation options to families and visitors; acts as a receptionist; answers questions for visitors and patients; greets and checks in family members utilizing the Family Waiting Room; directs and/or escorts patients and visitors to their destination; acts as a resource for families by answering questions and directing as needed; instills a sense of calm and makes families feel welcome; contacts appropriate discipline if a family requires additional support; updates and maintains religious reports and lists; assists physicians and staff in locating families for updates; contacts departments for patient updates; responds to all emergencies/alarm systems for Altru Health System; handles all communications promptly and courteously; reaches on-call personnel; keeps records of answering service logs; proficiently uses all equipment; monitors entrance and allows night access; tracks 911 calls that are transferred to dispatch; makes change and balances cash drawer.

Primary Job Duties:
  • Acts as a receptionist; answers questions for visitors and patients and provides a positive patient experience.
  • Provides concierge services to patients and families; acts as a liaison between patients, families and staff by greeting and checking in family members, instructing families on location of the restrooms, Altru Express, cafeteria, etc., notifying families with updates from Surgery and Cardiology, contacting departments for updates to help keep the family informed, directing and escorting to desired destination within the organization, assisting physicians and staff in locating families for updates and securing support services as needed.
  • Demonstrates the ability to respond to all emergencies/alarm systems for all Altru Health System buildings and promptly execute proper procedures and documentation.
  • Handles all communication in a prompt, accurate, timely and courteous manner.
  • Initiates and manages interactions with on-call personnel; updates on-call schedules after hours and on week-ends; coordinates and assists in paging personnel or patients when directed according to each of the different answering service teams.
  • Programs, tests, and assigns pagers for staff and locums.
  • Exhibits proficient use of all equipment in the department, i.e., telephone system, beepers, and computers.
  • Monitors entrance and allows night access appropriately.
Makes change as needed and balances the cash drawer daily

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED :

Required:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in stressful situations.
  • Basic computer skills.
