Position Description:
North Dakota State University invites applications for a Lecturer in the Veterinary Technology Program. This is a 9- month, non-tenure track position in the Department of Animal Sciences, an academic unit of the College of Agriculture, Food Systems, and Natural Resources. The Animal Sciences Department has the largest undergraduate student population in the College with over 400 total students in three undergraduate degree designations: Animal Science, Equine Science, and Veterinary Technology.
Initial responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Provide effective instruction to students including lectures, laboratories and other educational settings. Fulfill all requirements associated with teaching, including assessment, maintaining current knowledge of the subject area, and maintenance of equipment.
• Demonstrate a continuous commitment to pedagogical development.
• Provide formal and informal undergraduate student advising.
• Maintain licensure as a veterinary technician in North Dakota or Minnesota.
• Provide animal care and maintain animal health under the supervision of veterinarians and in accordance with program protocols.
• Supervise and instruct students providing animal care.
• Maintain constructive communication with internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to: other faculty and staff in the program, department, and university, students and prospective students, local animal rescue organizations, and members of the community.
• Participate in departmental and student activities, which sometimes occur outside usual business hours.
• Be on-call some nights and weekends for animal care in the Veterinary Technology Program.
• Maintain safety standards and protocols.
• A Master's degree OR pursuit of a Master's degree while employed is required.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree (by start date)
• Credentialed veterinary technician/technologist in ND or MN (by start date)
• Veterinary private practice experience
• Valid driver's license
• Willingness to be available for after hours on-call responsibility
• If the applicant does not already have a master's degree, they must have the required credentials to be admitted to the graduate school and pursue a master's degree while employed
Effective oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and achieve objectives in an educational context
• Experience with large, small, and exotic animal species
• Evidence of organizational and time-management skills
• Demonstrated ability to work well with a variety of people in many settings
