Description

This person will perform a variety of job responsibilities including calibrating and applying crop protection products and fertilizer. They will operate equipment, communicate with farm management and agronomist on application schedule, perform general maintenance, keep records and track inventory.

Job Duties:

  • Apply crop protection products and fertilizer as directed
  • Operate equipment to blend products
  • Assist with recordkeeping related to warehouse/inventory responsibilities
  • Monitor product application by calculating amounts, calibrating equipment, controlling application rates, and cleaning and storing equipment after application process
  • Assist with special projects and attend training sessions
  • Receive and unload product and perform warehouse inventory and storage functions
  • Apply herbicides and pesticides to labeled crops from recommendations made by the supervisor
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals and as directed in the employee handbook
  • Conduct self in the presence of customers and community to present a professional image of R.D. Offutt Farms
  • Proactively seek and participate in available company-sponsored training, to develop and advance knowledge base and skill set
  • Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner

 

Requirements

  • Two to three plus years related experience and/or training
  • Knowledge of the local geography to assist in locating farms and fields
  • High level of knowledge in the areas of electrical, mechanical, welding and metal fabrication is preferred
  • Ability to assist in equipment rebuilds
  • Ability to calibrate a variety of application equipment
  • Ability to maintain maintenance records for equipment
  • Ability to take on dispatching duties when necessary
  • Ability to make-up blend tickets as necessary
  • Ability to set up and calibrate injection pumps
  • Endorsements of Hazmat and Hazardous Material handler is preferred
  • Commercial Applicator License required
  • Field and row crop endorsement required
  • CDL endorsement preferred
  • Excellent driving record
