Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification:  $30,000 +/year, Full-Time, Benefitted, Non-Exempt

Work Schedule:   Monday-Friday, 8 am - 4:30 pm

Position Details

The Research Technician will be tasked with assisting in routine laboratory experiments as part of the new research group in COBRE Host-Microbe interaction program in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences. The Research Technician will work under the supervision of Principal Investigator. Duties include:


Assist in routine laboratory experiments in infectious diseases immunology.
 

  • Performs experiments in mouse nose and lung infection models.
  • Extraction of nasal and lung lavage and airway lymphoid tissues from Streptococcus pneumoniae influenza infected lungs.
  • Preparation of single cell suspension and cell isolation using magnetic sorting.
  • Basic understanding of flow cytometry.
  • Mouse airway infections.
  • qPCR and cell culture and molecular biology.



Laboratory Maintenance

  • Maintain lab equipment, supplies, chemicals, etc.


Competencies Required:

  • Experience with mouse airway infection and immunology.
  • Willing to work with mice.
  • Technical expertise in flow cytometry.
  • Be able to work independently and with a team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Be detail oriented.
  • Adhere to lab safety procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the lab.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associates Degree in Biology.
  • Successful Criminal History Background Check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • B.S. is Biology.
  • Lab experience in mouse airway lung infection models is strongly desirable.
