Admissions Counselor
Full-Time, 12-month (1.0 FTE)

Position Description
This position is responsible for planning and implementing enrollment activities and programs for student recruitment, working with databases and student information systems such as People Soft, establishing and maintaining personal contact with area high schools to provide admission and educational counseling, collaborating with VCSU faculty and staff in recruitment efforts, assisting with publication development and website design. The person in this position must be willing to occasionally work outside office hours as needed along with seasonal overnight travel in Minnesota and contiguous states.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree, or earned bachelor's degree by start date, valid driver's license, effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Excellent customer service skills and phone etiquette. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Exceptional organizational skills, including ability to multi-task. Excellent ability to interact and serve individuals from diverse backgrounds and age groups.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a college admission setting, higher education, or in a position that allowed the candidate to work closely with young people, such as teaching. Familiarity with the University and the surrounding Valley City community desired. Experience working with multiple integrated software systems.
Compensation
$29,000 - $31,000. Comprehensive fringe benefit package including employer paid full family coverage for health insurance, NDPERS retirement plan, and tuition waiver benefits. More information available at http://www.vcsu.edu/employeeservices/benefits.
