The University of Wisconsin River Falls, a member of the University of Wisconsin System, is located in scenic west central Wisconsin, 30 miles from the multi-cultural, multi-ethnic cities of Minneapolis and St Paul. UWRF's 6,100 undergraduate and graduate students pursue degrees in four colleges: Arts and Sciences, Education and Professional Studies; Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences; and Business and Economics.

The Position:
This is a full-time, 12 month, academic staff appointment at the rank of Academic Librarian in the Chalmer Davee Library. The Collection and Resource Management Librarian provides leadership for and manages the cataloging and acquisitions staff. This position organizes and supervises policy and workflow issues related to these areas as they affect all departments throughout the library. This position provides leadership for assessing and developing the library's collections and services in a collaborative team environment. This person serves as liaison to designated departments, participates in reference service and librarian instruction, participates in collection development activities for assigned subject areas, and works with library colleagues to develop a vision for implementing creative services and utilizing emerging technologies to meet the changing needs and expectations of our users.




Lead cataloging and acquisitions functions.
*Supervise cataloging and acquisitions personnel, including documenting procedures, writing position descriptions, interviewing, recommending for hire, training, and evaluating staff.
*Oversees all cataloging and acquisition functional areas in the library services platform.
*Develop, revise, and update policy related to collection and resource management, in conjunction with the Library Director.
*Plan, budget, and evaluate library technical services staff activities.
*Organize and supervise all policy and workflow issues related to collection and resource management as they affect all departments throughout the library.
*Prepare reports, documentation, manuals, and statistics as required.

Lead the library liaison team and serve as liaison to academic and administrative departments.
*Coordinate and support the work of the library liaisons to academic and administrative departments
*Provide leadership for assessing and developing the library's collections in a collaborative team environment.
*Provide relevant statistical data and metrics to support collection analysis and development decisions
*Coordinate the library's gift materials program, which may include reviewing and processing incoming donations.
*Communicate regularly with assigned academic and administrative departments regarding library services and resources.
*Participate in collection development activities for assigned departments, including selection and deselection of library materials.
*Teach library instruction session.

Manages the library's assessment efforts.
*Promote the integration of both quantitative and qualitative assessment related to services, collections, technology, and physical spaces.
*Lead team-based development of plans for assessment and implementation of the processes to collect, organize, preserve, and disseminate assessment data for internal decision-making and external reporting.
*Analyze and report quantitative and qualitative data gathered from various sources including library systems, vendor statistics, observations, surveys, web analytics, interviews, and focus groups and facilitate the use of this data to support library initiatives.

Participate in reference services.
*Participate in reference services and instruct students in the use of library resources. This may include some evening or weekend coverage.

Professional service
*Serve on library, university, UW System, and professional committees as elected and appointed.
*Foster communication and contribute to a collaborative work environment in the library.

Qualifications Required:
*Master of Library Science or Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) from an ALA-accredited institution or equivalent with a minimum of two years subsequent library experience.
*Experience of increasing responsibility in library technical services operations.
*Experience supervising staff.
*Knowledge of machine-readable cataloging formats, Resource: Description & Access (RDA), Anglo American cataloging rules, Library of Congress classification and Library of Congress subject headings. Familiarity with Online Computer Library Center (OCLC) or other national bibliographic databases.
*Knowledge of emerging technologies in libraries and how they impact the needs and expectations of library users.
*Knowledge of trends in library assessment.
*Strong public service commitment.
*Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.
*Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Qualifications Preferred:
*Experience working as a liaison to academic departments.
*Experience with quantitative and qualitative assessment methodologies, including research and survey design.
*Reference or library instruction experience.
