The part-time faculty dentist is responsible for the direction and supervision of the student dentists and hygienists and patient care.
JOB RELATIONSHIPS:

A. REPORTS TO: Dental Director B. SUPERVISES: Clinic staff, student dentists, hygienists and residents C. INTERRELATIONSHIPS WITH: Administration, management and staff of the hospital,

clinics, university, and other partners; area health care providers; and governmental agencies,
HOURS OF WORK: Generally 8 - 5 or as needed.
DRESS CODE: Professional
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS OF WORK (Minimum qualifications necessary to function

at full productivity).

A. EDUCATION AND TRAINING: DDS/DMD (or equivalent) and Minnesota Dental License (or eligibility) are required.

B. EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 5 years experience in general dentistry is required. Previous teaching, community health training and experience, and 10 or more year's rural clinical experience are preferred.

C. JOB KNOWLEDGE (Specific): Knowledge of program operations, teaching and training techniques, management/supervision and governmental regulations. Must possess and demonstrate high level clinical skills and patient care techniques.

Some noise associated with dental equipment.
EQUIPMENT OR MACHINES USED ON THE JOB: Dental and x-ray equipment associated

with School of Dentistry. Office equipment: fax, copier, computers, etc.

C. RESPONSIBILITY: Coordinates and oversees the training of pre-doctoral dental students and dental hygiene students in accordance with standards and practices developed and implemented by the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry.

TASKS:

1. Coordinates clinical training and classroom education for students on rotation at the Rice Dental Clinic with the School of Dentistry and teaches the practice of dentistry to the students in accordance with the standards and curriculum established by the School. 2. Provides direct supervision of the clinical services provided by all students and staff in the Clinic.
