RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Execute the M State Service Commitment and Service Standards on a daily basis to ensure all stakeholders have a positive service experience.
- Inform and assist current and prospective students on all aspects of financial aid..
- Administer the Moorhead campus work-study program so that students are awarded and paid in a timely manner within federal and state guidelines.
- Utilize the various computer packaging systems for awarding funds as well as prepare, analyze, and evaluate award simulations so that federal, state, and institutional funds are most effectively utilized:
- Participate in the development and implementation of college financial aid policies and campus procedures within prescribed guidelines.
- Provide work direction and relevant information to financial aid staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner. Must be able to travel to meetings and attend appropriate workshops and conferences.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two year degree in a business, accounting or human services related field.
- Two years of financial aid work experience in a college setting.
- Able to interpret and understand complicated federal and state regulations governing financial aid programs. This knowledge is applied to the daily work of the office in decision-making and record keeping.
- Customer services skills sufficient to actively listen to and understand customer needs and provide accurate information and appropriate alternatives in a timely, thorough, courteous, respectful, and professional manner.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills sufficient to derive required information.
- Basic knowledge of tax forms.
- Good numerical aptitude for detail and accuracy.
- Ability to complete detailed work with accuracy, facing many deadlines and frequent interruptions.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of private information according to procedures, rules, and statutes.
- English sufficient to fluently speak, write, read, understand and be understood in responding to a variety of written and oral communications such as questions, detailed instructions and procedures.
- Data Entry performance skills sufficient to accurately enter data into spreadsheets and databases.
- Spreadsheets sufficient to maintain data and produce monthly benefits reports.
- Computer knowledge and understanding with the ability to remain up-to-date with the many software programs utilized in the administration of financial aid.
- Ability to work closely with the public and be able to clearly inform students and parents of the financial aid process.
- Able to handle stressful situations with the highest level of professionalism consistent with excellent customer service.
- Ability to interact with prospective and current students with sensitivity.
- Physical Demands (sitting for extended periods of time).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a business, accounting or human service related field
- Experience using the ISRS student record system.
WORK DAYS AND HOURS:
- Monday – Friday / 40 hours per week
